Maputo at 20 events
Each year from 2003, Maputo Protocol events are held across the continent on July 11 – conferences, community gatherings, exhibitions, awards, festivals, fun runs, petitions, speaking events, online digital gatherings and more.
SOAWR invites people across Africa to celebrate the significant progress that has been made at the regional and national levels towards advancing the human rights of women and ensuring gender equality on the continent.
Parallel Events: 10-11 July 2023
The SOAWR Coalition is excited to be hosting the 20th Anniversary of the Maputo Protocol in July 2023 in Nairobi, Kenya. To commemorate this, we’ve invited our members and other women’s rights organisations working to advance gender equality and women’s rights in Africa to host parallel events on the 10th or 11th of July 2023 in line with this year’s anniversary theme: “Accelerating the Promise for African Women and Girls”. We have nine parallel events happening throughout three sessions across the two days.
