Winner’s Essay – African Youth For Maputo Protocol Essay Competition
At the start of their careers, women’s rights advocates often do not have the prerequisite human rights knowledge necessary for women’s rights advocacy, including litigation. Furthermore, where human rights training is incorporated into the curriculum of law schools, this training is often not complemented by practical experience in applying human rights standards. To address this, together with Equality Now, we established the African Youth for Maputo Protocol Essay Competition as part of a pilot project on ways of creating awareness amongst the next generation of women’s rights practitioners. The Association of the Egyptian Female Lawyers Concludes Women’s Rights Conventions Training for Media Personnel
Cairo, 15th of January, 2022. The Association of the Egyptian Female Lawyers has concluded the activities of the training for media personnel which was held in Luxor on 14th and 15th January 2022 about women’s rights in international conventions. The training was attended by 20 distinguished journalists who represent the following governorates: Minya, Assuit, Qina, Sohag, Aswan and Luxor. The two-day training tackled many important topics such as women in international conventions, concept of women protection, national system for protecting women’s rights, the CEDAW Convention and most national legislations for supporting women’s rights. Kadirat holds a Regional Conference on the Maputo Protocol
