The New Generation Girls & Women Development Initiative (NIGAWD)

The New Generation Girls and Women Development Initiative (NIGAWD) is a young woman-led non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation based in Nigeria established in 2012.

NIGAWD envisions a society where women are intellectually, economically, politically and socially empowered as positive change drivers. To achieve this vision, NIGAWD supports indigent women through capacity building, skill acquisition and provision of business education as well as financial support to facilitate self-employment ventures thereby enabling them contribute to the development and advancement of themselves as well as the society. The organisation also conducts advocacy through educative and sensitisation programs on women’s right via Radio, TV, Social Media etc. 

Areas of work include: women empowerment, ending FGM and GBV, anti-corruption, youth development and policy advocacy, and governance and elections.
