Through the All for Maputo Protocol Initiative, supported by Sida and Equality Now, SOAWR member Réseau des Femmes Leaders pour le Développement (RFLD) has translated the Maputo Protocol into the languages of Hausa and Zarma.
Hausa is a language spoken by the Hausa people in Chad, and mainly within the northern half of Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, and the southern half of Niger, with significant minorities in Sudan, Benin and Côte d’Ivoire. According to Britannica, the Hausa language is the most important indigenous lingua franca in West and Central Africa, spoken as a first or second language by about 40–50 million people.
Zarma is the leading indigenous language of the southwestern lobe of the West African nation of Niger, where the Niger River flows and the capital city, Niamey, is located. Zarma is the second-most common language in the country, after Hausa. Estimates of Zarma speakers range between 2.2 – 3.6 million people.

Grâce à l’initiative “Tous pour le Protocole de Maputo”, soutenue par Sida et Equality Now, le Réseau des Femmes Leaders pour le Développement (RFLD), membre de SOAWR, a traduit le Protocole de Maputo dans les langues Haoussa et Zarma.
Le Haoussa est une langue parlée par le peuple Haoussa au Tchad, et principalement dans la moitié nord du Nigeria, au Ghana, au Cameroun, et dans la moitié sud du Niger, avec des minorités significatives au Soudan, au Bénin et en Côte d’Ivoire. Selon Britannica, la langue haoussa est la plus importante lingua franca indigène en Afrique occidentale et centrale, parlée comme première ou seconde langue par environ 40 à 50 millions de personnes.
Le Zarma est la principale langue indigène du lobe sud-ouest de la nation ouest-africaine du Niger, où coule le fleuve Niger et où se trouve la capitale, Niamey. Le zarma est la deuxième langue la plus répandue dans le pays, après le haoussa. Les estimations du nombre de locuteurs de zarma varient entre 2,2 et 3,6 millions de personnes.
