EASTERN AFRICA SUB-REGIONAL SUPPORT INITIATIVE (EASSI)

The Eastern African Sub-Regional Support Initiative for the Advancement of Women (EASSI) was formed in 1996 as a sub-regional, non-profit organisation that strengthens the capacity of women and civil society organisations in governance, leadership, economic empowerment, policy advocacy initiatives and peace and security. EASSI recognises the worth of all persons and the value of diversity and non-discrimination. EASSI works in nine countries namely; Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Eritrea, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Somalia through its member organisations.

COLLECTIF DES ASSOCIATIONS ET ONGS FÉMININES DE BURUNDI (CAFOB)

Le Collectif des Associations et ONGs Féminines du Burundi (CAFOB)est une organisation non gouvernementale à but non lucratif composée de 63 associations agissant dans différents secteurs du développement. CAFOB est également active dans le travail avec les réfugiés et les déplacés internes. CAFOB envisage un Burundi pacifique et prospère qui respecte les droits de l’homme et où les femmes ont les mêmes opportunités que les hommes et décident ensemble de l’avenir du pays.

CAFOB is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation composed of 63 associations acting in different sectors of development. CAFOB is also active in working with refugees and IDPs. CAFOB envisions a peaceful and prosperous Burundi which respects human rights and where women have the same opportunities as men and decide together for the future of the country.

COALITION ON VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN (COVAW)

COVAW is a non-profit making national women human rights organization registered in Kenya under the NGO Coordination Act. COVAW was established in 1995 as a result of a workshop organized by WILDAF (Women in Law and development in Africa) that sought to strengthen the networking capacities of women organizations in Kenya. They are committed to breaking the cycle of violence against women and believe that society should be free from all forms of violence.

BAOBAB FOR WOMEN’S HUMAN RIGHTS

Baobab for Women’s Human Rights (BAOBAB) is a feminist organization based on the principles of equality, empowerment, and respect for the dignity of women as human beings. It was established in 1996 as an intervention strategy to address the myriad of barriers to the actualisation of the rights of women in all its forms under the three parallel systems of law in Nigeria, namely: customary, religious and statutory laws, especially in Muslim-majority communities.
