Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso signed the Maputo Protocol in February 2004 and ratified it in June, 2006. 

  • 2015: the adoption in 2015 and the implementation of the integrated program for the empowerment of woman, one of whose objectives is to ensure the effective participation of women in decision spheres.

  • 2017: the second operational action plan of the National Gender Policy (PNG) adopted in May 2017. This plan covers the period 2017-2019 with an overall cost of 6,909,200,000 FCFA. Priority actions of this PAO-PNG have, among other things:
    – the development of legal texts in favor of the equal representation of men
    and women in decision-making bodies at all levels;
    – the translation and dissemination of texts in favor of the equal representation of men and women in decision-making bodies in national languages;
    – the establishment of a compendium of women.
