Lesotho signed the Maputo Protocol in February 27th, 2004 and ratified in October 26th, 2004.
2016
- Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Policy of 2016 prioritizes women and youth[i]
- Human Rights Commission Bill: establishes the Human Rights Commission[ii]
2018
- Dual Citizenship Act: makes it easier for men from third countries married to a Lesothan woman to become a naturalized citizen[iii]
- Labour Code Wages (Amendment) Act of 2018: amends the Act of 2014 and provides the same length of maternity leave for all workers[iv]
- Eighth Amendment to the Constitution: removed discriminatory provisions that favoured foreign women married to Lesotho citizens over foreign men married to Lesotho women in matters of citizenship[v]
2020
- During the year the Ministry of Social Development conducted public awareness campaigns against childmarriage in a number of districts[vi]
